Ultralight Rigid Wheelchairs
A rigid frame has no folding cross-brace, so more of every push goes into moving forward. Compare carbon-fiber and aluminum rigid chairs from Motion Composites, TiLite, Quickie and Ki Mobility. Every chair is configured to your measurements by our team in Tustin, CA.

Why choose a rigid ultralight?
For full-time manual wheelchair users, a rigid ultralight is often the most efficient chair you can push.
Efficient pushing
No folding cross-brace means less frame flex, so more of your energy moves you forward.
Lightest frames
Rigid frames have fewer parts. The Motion Composites APEX C has a 9.7 lb transport weight.
Built to your body
Seat width, depth, back height, center of gravity, camber and front angle are all set to your measurements.
Protect your shoulders
A well-fitted, lighter chair can reduce the effort of each push, which matters over years of use.
Easy car transfers
The backrest folds down and the wheels pop off for loading into a car.
Carbon vs. aluminum
Carbon fiber is lighter and absorbs vibration. Aluminum keeps the cost down without giving up adjustability.

Ultralight rigid wheelchair FAQ
What is the lightest rigid wheelchair you offer?
The Motion Composites APEX C has a 9.7 lb transport weight, measured without rear wheels, armrests, cushion or anti-tippers. The aluminum APEX A is 10.6 lbs. Your actual weight depends on the options you choose.
Is a rigid wheelchair better than a folding one?
Rigid chairs are usually lighter and more efficient to push. Folding chairs are easier to transport and store. Active, full-time users often prefer rigid, and frequent travelers often prefer folding.
How long does it take to get a custom rigid wheelchair?
Most rigid ultralights are built to order. Total time depends on the fitting, the manufacturer’s build time and, for insurance-funded chairs, the approval process. We’ll give you an estimate once your chair is specified.
Does Medicare cover ultralight rigid wheelchairs?
Ultralight wheelchairs (K0005) may be covered when medical necessity is documented and coverage criteria are met. Some upgrades may be private pay. We review your plan before ordering.
