What to know

Folding vs rigid — which is better?

Rigid frames are slightly more efficient, but folding chairs make transport dramatically easier. For users who travel frequently, the convenience often outweighs the small efficiency difference.

Insurance coverage

Ultralight folding wheelchairs (K0005) are covered by Medicare and most insurance when medically necessary. Your clinical evaluation documents the medical justification.

Custom fit in a folding frame

Modern folding ultralights are still extensively customisable — seat dimensions, back height, axle position, and centre of gravity are all individually configured.

Durability

Modern cross-brace designs are significantly more durable than older folding chairs. TiLite, Quickie, and Ki Mobility all offer lifetime frame warranties on their ultralight folders.
