Why choose an ultralight folder?

Today’s folding ultralights close much of the performance gap with rigid chairs, while staying easy to transport.

Folds for transport

The cross-brace folds the chair narrow for car trunks, closets and travel, and you don’t have to take it apart.

Light to push & lift

Carbon-fiber and aluminum frames cut weight, which means less effort with every push and every lift into the car.

Fully adjustable

Seat width and depth, back height, axle position and center of gravity are all set to your body.

Stiffer than ever

Modern folding designs reduce flex for a more responsive, efficient ride.

Carbon vs. aluminum

Carbon fiber is lighter and absorbs vibration. Aluminum keeps the cost down without giving up adjustability.

Add power assist later

Many folders work with power-assist devices for hills and long distances.

Ultralight folding wheelchair FAQ

What is the lightest folding wheelchair you offer?

The Motion Composites HELIO C2 (11.7 lbs) and VELOCE (11.9 lbs) are the lightest by transport weight, measured without wheels, armrests, cushion, anti-tippers or footrests. Your actual weight depends on the options you choose.

Is carbon fiber worth it?

Carbon fiber is lighter and absorbs road vibration, which many full-time users notice day to day. Aluminum models like the HELIO A6 and A7 cost less and are fully adjustable. We’ll help you compare.

Folding or rigid: which should I choose?

Rigid chairs are slightly lighter and more efficient. Folding chairs are easier to transport and store, especially in smaller cars or when others drive. Your fitting will help decide.

Does Medicare cover ultralight folding wheelchairs?

Ultralight wheelchairs (K0005) may be covered when medical necessity is documented and coverage criteria are met. Some upgrades may be private pay. We review your plan before ordering.
